#12 -Name: BLUFF DOWNS GIANT PYTHON
-Scientific name: Liasis sp.
-Period: Pliocene (5-2 million years ago)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Growing up to 10m in length, the Bluff downs Giant Python was Australia's largest-ever snake. It lived in woodlands and vine thickets along the waterways of northeast Queensland, where it would have hunted reptiles, birds and mammals. Like its modern relatives, this python probably had heat-sensitive pits on its head to help it find warm-blooded prey at night.
