The tiny Desert Rat-kangaroo lived in some of Australia's harshest habitats. A nocturnal animal, it sheltered during the day in a nest made of twigs and leaves. The introduction of cats, sheep and cattle probably caused the extinction of this animal, last seen in 1935.
