13- Name: Lesser Stick-nest Rat Scientific Name: Leporillus apicalis
This rodent lived in colonies that built large nests from mounds of sticks. Explorers in inland Australia found it was friendly and easily tamed. It fed on the same plants as introduced cattle and sheep, and probably vanished because it couldn't compete with these newcomers.
