Yowie Series EIGHT :   FORGOTTEN  FRIENDS  (Series A)

14- Name:  New Zealand Grayling
  Scientific Name:  Prototroctes oxyrhynchus

The New Zealand Grayling was once found in huge numbers in cold, fast-flowing rivers. About 25 cm in lenght, its slender body made it a fast swimmer. Changes to New Zealand's rivers and the introduction of trout combined to push this fish into extinction some time in the 1930s.
