22- Name: Falkland Islands Dog Scientific Name: Dusicyon australis
The Falkland Islands Dog lived by hunting the seals and birds that breed on these remote islands. Its heavy coat protected it from the cold weather, but it also attracted fur traders, who killed large numbers of the dogs. Sheep farmers killed the last of these animals in 1876.
