29- Name: Lesser Stick-nest Rat Scientific Name: Leporillus apicalis
Steller's Sea Cow was a huge marine mammal, growing to more than 8 meters in length. Hunted by prehistoric people, by 1700 it was only found around a group of tiny islands in the Bering Sea. Discovered by Europeans in 1741, by 1768 the last of these great animals had been killed.
