The Pyrenean Ibex was a wild goat found in the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France. It was once common, but by 1900 hunting had reduced its numbers to about 100. In spite of efforts to save it, the surviving population slowly shrank. The last Pyrenean Ibex died in 2000.
