02- Name: Ivory-Billed Woodpecker Scientific Name: Campephilus principalis
The Ivory-Billed Woodpecker was found in the forests and swamps of the south-eastern United States and also on some Caribbean islands. It hunted insects by tearing strips of bark off trees with its powerful bill. When the trees began to disappear, so did the woodpecker. The last one was seen in 1987.
