03- Name: Blue Pike Scientific Name: Stizostedion vitreum
The Blue Pike was once very common in the Great Lakes of North America. Huge numbers of these fish were caught in nets, and by the 1950s they were becoming rare. In 1977 scientists searched the lakes for the Blue Pike. Sadly, they found none and declared the species extinct.
