The Syrian Wild Donkey once lived on the dry plains of Syria and Iraq. It was a fast runner, and could run more than 70 km/h. In the early 20th century, hunters using guns and fast cars killed thousands of these animals for their meat and fur. The last animal Syrian Wild Donkey was killed in 1928.
