12- Name: Golden Toad Scientific Name: Bufo periglenes
The spectacularly coloured Golden Toad led a very secretive life within forests. Males were an incredibly bright, golden orange, unlike the usual earth tones of most toads. Less than 30 years after its discovery, the Golden Toad had vanished. No one has seen one since 1989.
