Yowie Series NINE :   FORGOTTEN  FRIENDS  (Series B)

13- Name:  Samoan Wood-rail
Scientific Name:  Pareudiastes pacificus

The Samoan Wood-rail waded in swamps in search of food. Its long toed, unwebbed feet helped it to walk on floating vegetation. If faced with a predator it would seem to barely be skimming the water, running and half flying along the surface. Rats, cats and other introduced animals probably caused its extinction.
