The Stephen-Island Wren was a tiny flightless bird found on an island near New Zealand. It lived amongst rocks, and probably fed on small insects. In 1894 a lighthouse keeper brought his cat to live on the island. Within a few months, the cat had wiped out the entire population of wrens.
