Gould's Mouse was found in the grasslands of eastern Australia. It was a large mouse that lived in family groups. During the day it hid in burrows, coming out at night to feed. Hunting by cats, and competition for food from sheep and cattle led to the extinction of Gould's Mouse in 1857.
