21- Name: Norfolk Island Kaka Scientific Name: Nestor productus
The Norfolk Island Kaka was a large, shy parrot. In 1788 settlers arrived on the island, and soon killed most of the Kakas for food. They also cut down the forest, robbing the bird of its habitat. The last wild Norfolk Island Kakas died out in the early 1800s. The last cage bird died in 1851.
