26- Name:  Bonin Islands Grosbeak
Scientific Name:  Chaunoproctus ferreorostris

The Bonin Islands Grosbeak was found on a remote island in the north-western Pacific. It fed mainly on the ground, using its huge beak to break open forest fruits. Humans first settled the island in 1827, bringing with them dogs, cats and rats. Within a year these invaders had wiped out the Grosbeak.
