The babies are now 11
weeks old. They go super good. Here now their weight and their
size with the garrots. The female weighs 3¾ pounds and
measures 8 inches. The male weighs 4½ pounds and measures
9 inches. Their future is announced promising.
Here are pictures of
the two surviving fighters. As you can see, they are very small!
It is the first time
that the Shalligy family has gone through such a worrisom experience.
We have been feeding them since their birth. In spite of their
light weight, they are full of energy and are in top form. A
sheltie pup can weight approximately 5 to 10 onces at birth.
Our two puppies weight just a few onces more, and this at 5 weeks
of age! Our hope is that they live a happy life. They deserve
it after having faught such a valiant battle to stay with us.
So here are my stars.
You can get a good idea
of how tiny they are when you see them next to the paper roll
at 5 weeks.

Last Tuesday we consulted
an ostheopath with one of the puppies. The diagnosis was not
a good one. They identified a bone malformation at the elbow.
I have had to envisage the difficult decision of euthanasia.
It never is an easy step to tak especially after having cared
so lovingly for him for 4 weeks and hoping against all hope for
a positive outcome for a normal life. Sadness fills me when facing
my powerlessness. It was this morning that I finally mustered
the courage to set him free of his discomfort . I hope that in
doggie heaven he will live happy and well.
Snif ! snif ! snif !
